Heat Seal Checker
How does Heat Seal Checker test seals, and why check seals at all?
- Heat Seal Checker is a bright red solution for detecting tiny leaks and verifying heat-seal integrity (the dye penetration testing method for heat seals). It is used, for example, to test for leaks in the packaging wall (such as pinholes in laminated aluminium foil), to check whether sealing temperature and time are sufficient when the type or thickness of plastic packaging changes, and for QC seal checks before a run starts or as spot checks during food packing.
Benefits of using Heat Seal Checker
- It detects tiny leaks and verifies seal integrity, so the packaging can do its job of blocking gas transmission and cross-contamination, and extend shelf life as effectively as possible. This matters especially when active packaging is used: even a micron-scale leak can rapidly exhaust the capacity of an active packaging sachet, wasting it entirely.
- It verifies seal integrity accurately, where visual inspection or pull testing cannot reliably detect tiny leaks — particularly with gusseted bags, centre-seal bags, laminated aluminium foil bags, or bags thick enough to make a complete seal difficult.
Usage recommendations
- Contains alcohol — keep away from open flame.
- Can be used to check for tiny leaks and seal integrity by both packaging manufacturers and food manufacturers/packers (before and after filling).
