Self-heating pouch

The eazy2go self-heating pouch warms food anywhere — no flame, no stove, no microwave required.

Where flameless meal heaters come from

Self-heating food packaging was first developed to warm field rations for soldiers and field officers, and ready-to-eat meals in emergency relief kits. Today it has been adapted to consumer needs — for example ekiben bento boxes eaten by rail passengers in Japan, semi-instant mala hotpot in China, and warming ready-to-eat retort meals.

How eazy2go heats your food

The eazy2go heating pouch generates heat through an exothermic reaction between quicklime (calcium oxide — also used to make limewater for foods such as century eggs and pickled vegetables) and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Adding water starts the reaction, which produces the heat that warms the food — with no flame, no stove and no microwave.

Safety

Both raw materials are food-related substances, and the reaction is contained inside the heating pouch, separate from the food itself.

Where you can use it

  • Warming sterilised ready-to-eat meals (shelf-stable at room temperature), such as tray rice and retort curry or side-dish pouches
  • Warming chilled convenience-store meals
  • Preparing dry or semi-instant foods — boiling water for coffee, or portable semi-instant mala hotpot
  • Warming delivery meals, office lunch boxes, clean-food tiffin carriers, or meals from popular restaurants
  • Warming picnic food, cooking at camp, or while travelling
  • Warming emergency meals and survival rations in disaster situations
